The San Diego Wildlife Center is a program under Rancho Coastal Humane Society, a 501c3 non- profit organization.
SDWC offers services at no charge to the public in partnership with California Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and local county and city animal control agencies.
All wildlife rehabilitators are required by federal and state laws to hold valid permits. San Diego Wildlife Center holds the following permits
- U.S. Fish and Wildlife permit covers all migratory birds.
- California Department of Fish and Wildlife permit covers California species of birds, land mammals and reptiles.
Under state and federal law, all patients belong to the state of California. SDWC cannot return wildlife patients to individuals keeping them illegally as pets and does not service other exotic pets. San Diego Wildlife Center is a resource for injured, sick or orphaned native wildlife as well as for federal, state, and local wildlife agencies.
